How long have you been involved in tobacco control?
What brought you to tobacco control work?
I guess it was a natural progression. I was working as an outreach coordinator in cancer and volunteering with American Cancer Society when the opportunity to work in tobacco control came about. My grandfather passed away from lung cancer. I do this work in his memory.
What is your favorite part of empowering youth?
Witnessing the aha moments, like when all of the information begins to make sense and it is applied to other situations and topics. Or when a young person realizes their voice, their ideas and their creativity matter and can have a positive impact. And they use them.
What do you do in your free time?
I volunteer with community organizations, promoting arts, culture and social justice. I love to travel, and take photographs. Lots of photographs. And I love those moments of doing nothing but playing with my pups and watching TV with my husband.
