How long have you been involved in tobacco control?
Since 2011
What brought you to tobacco control work?
I dabbled in Tobacco Prevention and Control work while interning with my aunt at a public health unit in Minnesota the summer before my sophomore year in college. My first job after graduating graduation was as the Tobacco Prevention Specialist for the Tobacco Prevention and Control Department at Bismarck Burleigh Public Health and I have been here ever since! I have always had a passion for changing the world and learned that through policy, advocacy, and education I can make a positive impact on my community and future generations
What is your favorite part of empowering youth?
My favorite part of empowering youth is to see them grow in confidence and strength in a world where they may feel that their voice will not be heard. Each time I have the opportunity to work with youth or young adults in making a positive impact on their community I cannot help but feel immensely proud of the courageous individuals they are and will continue to become
What do you do in your free time?
My favorite thing in the world is hiking in the mountains and back country camping! I love to teach yoga at our local studio and spend time with my two Boston Terriers (Luna & Bonez). Instead of listening to music in the car I enjoy listening to audio books from all different genres. On the weekends my husband and I watch movies, hang with the pups, and binge re-runs of Greys Anatomy on Netflix! During the summer I play on a sand volleyball team with the hubs, eat A LOT of Blizzards from Dairy Queen, and spend time around the campfire!
