Position: Training & Outreach Manager
Leslie Ferreira started her journey in tobacco control as a youth and college advocate. Leslie served as the Director of STAND (Sacramento Taking Action Against Nicotine Dependence) for Breathe California of Sacramento, Director of Development for the Foundation for California Community Colleges, and the Chief of the Health Equity & Local Programs Unit for the California Tobacco Control Program.
She has extensive experience developing and implementing successful state and local tobacco control programs and campaigns resulting in increased policy and community norm change, reduced tobacco industry presence, and decreased smoking rates. She has provided training and technical assistance to a variety of local organizations and state agencies on integrating and institutionalizing positive youth and young adult development strategies and programs. Her work with young adults and college campuses was recognized with Legacy Foundation’s Community Activist Award.
In her current role, she oversees the development and implementation of the CVS Health-Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids Youth Advocacy Training Program, which provides in-person and web-based training to youth leaders and adult allies across the United States.
