Working in the tobacco control movement, we value the power of partnerships. We partner with community-based organizations, schools and hospitals to help advocate for policy change. But youth and young adults are the partners that bring a perspective to the movement that adults could never capture on our own.
Young people get involved because they genuinely care about their community and peers. And they stay involved when they have supportive adult coordinators who provide resources and skill-building opportunities that help make them better leaders.
The 2019 National Conference on Tobacco or Health (NCTOH) celebrates the power of youth and provides a platform to showcase examples of successful youth-adult partnerships. Partnering with youth on abstract submissions creates the unique opportunity for youth and young adults to share their best practices with tobacco control advocates across the country. Youth and young adults contribute their energy and creativity, and in return gain confidence, improved communication skills and go back to their communities with fresh ideas to partner with adults to ignite change.
Abstract submissions for the National Conference on Tobacco or Health will close at 11:59 PM Pacific on Friday, November 16, 2018.
